Armenia, Azerbaijan may join Abraham Accords![]() May 14, 2025 - 18:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The United States Special Presidential Envoy, Steve Witkoff, stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan could potentially join the Abraham Accords, which aim to establish diplomatic relations between Israel and various countries. He made this remark in an interview with Breitbart News. He emphasized that both countries are close to normalizing relations. “I think we could soon see this happen in Lebanon and even Syria. There has been a positive response from them. It could also happen with Libya. This refers to joining the Abraham Peace Accords. It may happen with Azerbaijan and Armenia, where we believe we are very close to final conflict resolution,” he said. “I believe both can join the Abraham Accords.” Witkoff added that the U.S. President shares this belief. “I am truly confident that over the next few months, four or five, maybe even six countries will join the Abraham Peace Accords, and that will be a major signal to the world about the President’s foreign policy initiatives promoting peace and stability.” The Abraham Accords is the name given to the agreements that began in 2020 under President Donald Trump’s first term, establishing diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab countries. It started with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, later including Sudan and Morocco. The countries agreed to diplomatic recognition, mutual sovereignty acknowledgment, and cooperation frameworks. The accords are named after Abraham, a central figure to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Witkoff’s comments came during Trump’s current Middle East tour, which includes stops in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. During the trip, Trump is meeting with various Arab leaders, including Syria’s new President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Witkoff, accompanying the President, also held meetings with Iranian officials in Oman. “There’s big energy. You raise a very good point. Everyone is focused on the ‘big issues’—Iran, Russia-Ukraine, and Gaza—but we’re making real progress in getting countries to join the Abraham Peace Accords,” he said. Witkoff may travel to Turkey to oversee Russia-Ukraine peace talks. President Trump has indicated a possible surprise visit to Turkey to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Witkoff’s previous interviews have addressed these critical conflicts and his responses to related criticisms.
