Mirzoyan, Kallas discuss EU-Armenia cooperation, peace agenda

PanARMENIAN.Net - During his working visit to Brussels, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with European Commission Vice President and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas to exchange views on international and regional developments.

In the context of the peace process in the South Caucasus, both parties emphasized the crucial importance of signing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

They discussed the current vision for developing the Armenia-European Union partnership, its long-term prospects, and joint initiatives aimed at deepening cooperation.

Mirzoyan noted that the fundamental values of democracy and peace form the foundation of Armenia-EU relations, and that visible results have already been achieved through joint efforts. The two officials also addressed upcoming high-level meetings and the key topics expected to be discussed.

On March 13, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry announced it had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on two previously unresolved articles and that the peace agreement was ready to be signed. Armenia has expressed readiness to begin consultations on the signing’s timing and location. However, Baku has since introduced new preconditions and declared it is too early to discuss meeting dates.
