Digital driver’s licenses launched in Armenia![]() May 15, 2025 - 17:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has launched digital versions of driver’s licenses, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced. Citizens can now apply for a digital copy alongside the physical license, Minister Arpine Sargsyan said, according to Radar.am. She clarified that within Armenia, digital licenses are sufficient for legal driving and won’t cause any issues. However, physical licenses are still mandatory for driving abroad. The Minister noted that patrol services are fully equipped with technology for quick identification of drivers. A similar system already exists for digital car registration certificates. The government also approved a new regulation allowing individuals to retake the theoretical or practical driving test as early as the next day by paying an additional fee. According to Sputnik Armenia, if someone wishes to retake the exam the following day, the extra fee is 45,000 AMD (approx. $115). A three-day wait costs 30,000 AMD. Minister Sargsyan explained that this system mirrors other expedited services like fast-tracked passport or ID issuance for an additional fee. Currently, if a person fails either the theory or practical exam, the standard retake period is one week. The ministry had received numerous requests from individuals wanting to retake exams sooner by paying. Another amendment allows those who fail a second retake scheduled a month later to retake the exam on the 7th or 14th day instead of waiting another full month. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
