Activist: authorities degrade citizens they once praised

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian activist Narek Malyan, a member of the “We Are Awake” movement, has expressed outrage on Facebook over what he calls public verbal abuse by Armenia's leadership.

He wrote that no one could have imagined that wives of Armenian leaders would refer to citizens using derogatory terms like “louse” and “idiot.”

Malyan recalled that in 2018, the ruling family had celebrated the Armenian citizen as a source of pride, but now the same family publicly insults them. “Never could anyone imagine that one of the wives of Armenia’s leaders would call a citizen a louse, another an idiot, and so on,” he said.

He emphasized that none of the wives of former leaders—Rima Demirchyan, Lyudmila Ter-Petrosyan, Bella Kocharyan, or Rita Sargsyan—would have permitted themselves such conduct.

“It took only seven years for the evolution from a proud citizen to a louse,” Malyan stated, sarcastically suggesting revisions to evolutionary theory. “I propose we lice unite and oust them through impeachment—or accept our status, as some opposition MPs already have. What’s your proposal? I’d love to hear it,” he concluded.
