Armenian MFA condemns deadly attack on Israeli embassy staff in Washington

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal attack on Israeli Embassy staff members in Washington, D.C., which resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

In a statement posted on X,, the ministry conveyed its condolences and condemned all forms of hatred and violence.

“Saddened to hear about the attack on #Israel's embassy staff in Washington, D.C., resulting in loss of two lives. Joining condolences from different countries, we stand against all forms of hatred & violence.” — MFA of Armenia (@mfaofarmenia) May 22, 2025

The victims, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were staff members at the Israeli Embassy in Washington. They were fatally shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum on the evening of May 21, 2025. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, was apprehended at the scene. Witnesses reported that Rodriguez shouted "Free, free Palestine" during his arrest.

Israeli officials revealed that Lischinsky had planned to propose to Milgrim during an upcoming trip to Jerusalem and had purchased an engagement ring just days before the attack.

The incident has been widely condemned by international leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, who described the killings as "obviously based on antisemitism" and called for an end to such hatred.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu linked the attack to rising antisemitic sentiments and ordered increased security measures at Israeli embassies worldwide.

The FBI and local law enforcement are investigating the shooting as a targeted act of antisemitic violence.
