9,451 displaced from Artsakh apply for Armenian citizenship![]() May 23, 2025 - 15:35 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - As of May 20, a total of 9,451 individuals forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh have applied for Armenian citizenship, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan announced during a press briefing. He noted that, to date, 8,315 of these applicants have already been granted citizenship by presidential decree. “We’re seeing a notable increase in applications. At the beginning of the year, we were receiving around 20 applications per day, but that number has now grown to 40–50 daily,” Ghazaryan said, according to Sputnik Armenia. Ghazaryan also clarified that when at least one parent obtains Armenian citizenship, their children automatically receive citizenship as well. According to data from the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 115,365 individuals have been forcibly displaced from Artsakh since September 2023. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
