RA Оmbudsperson warns of high rates of child abuse

PanARMENIAN.Net - At a government session, Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan declared that "violence against children is very widespread in Armenia, including sexual violence."

According to Manasyan, the system for responding to, preventing, and investigating violence against children must be completely overhauled. Her remarks were reported by Aysor.am .

She emphasized that continuous monitoring by the ombudsperson’s office shows particularly serious deficiencies in violence prevention and response mechanisms. In some cases, she noted, officials lack a proper understanding of the different forms of abuse and are therefore unable to respond effectively.
