Baku denies firing toward Аrmenian village![]() May 30, 2025 - 13:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan has denied responsibility for recent gunfire directed toward the village of Khoznavar in Armenia’s Syunik Province, according to Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, Armenpress reports. Speaking to reporters in parliament on May 29, he said, “We asked for clarification from Azerbaijan; they refused to admit it was them.” According to the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Azerbaijani military units opened fire between 01:00 and 01:15 on May 29 toward Khoznavar, damaging a residential home. Tensions remain high around Armenia’s Syunik Province, said Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also warned of ongoing risk of armed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, adding that Washington is working to prevent escalation. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
