Armenia rejects 213 tons of watermelon over nitrates![]() June 2, 2025 - 17:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian authorities have blocked the entry of 213 tons of imported watermelon due to excessive nitrate content, according to laboratory test results. As part of border state supervision conducted by the Food Safety Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia, samples were taken from 557 tons of watermelon imported into the country between May 26 and May 31, 2025. As of June 1, laboratory testing showed that 213 tons of the total shipment did not comply with the permissible levels of nitrates, leading to a ban on their entry into Armenia. Results of tests on the remaining watermelon batches will be announced once available. ![]() ![]() Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”.
