RPA urges 'I Have Honor' bloc to nominate PM candidate![]() June 7, 2025 - 11:56 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has issued a statement proposing that the "I Have Honor" faction in the National Assembly nominate a candidate for Prime Minister as part of efforts to remove the current administration. Reaffirming its commitment to Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the RPA described the current government as a "dictatorial regime" posing existential threats to the country and stressed the urgent need to use all constitutional tools, including a vote of no confidence. “It is regrettable that vital proposals for a no-confidence vote sometimes spark unnecessary disputes within opposition circles, weakening the collective effort and serving only the current failed regime,” the statement reads. The RPA emphasized that it does not seek power for its own sake, but supports a transition of power and is willing to assume political responsibility to achieve this. The party warned that any hesitation in taking practical steps at this critical stage would be dangerous for Armenian statehood. Considering the government’s failure to fulfill the 2021 parliamentary-approved program and the lack of a proposed prime ministerial candidate from the opposition to date, the RPA called on MPs from "I Have Honor" to initiate the no-confidence motion under the rules of the National Assembly. The party proposed that the candidate come from among its experienced and qualified Council members, and expressed readiness to draft a resolution to start the impeachment process and form a new government based on national consensus. The RPA also expressed hope that other political forces and individuals capable of contributing to the no-confidence process would participate actively. Finally, the RPA appealed to citizens, civic and political organizations, and the media to set aside mistrust and disagreements, show national unity, and continue the struggle to establish national governance in Armenia. Previously, the "Armenia" faction had confirmed it would provide all 28 of its MPs' signatures to initiate a no-confidence vote—if the initiators secured the remaining 8 and publicly demonstrated both the ability and commitment to mobilize the public support needed for a successful impeachment. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
