CoE reaffirms peace support for Armenia, Azerbaijan talks

PanARMENIAN.Net - Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset reaffirmed the organization's ongoing support for the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan in an interview with Public Television, reports Pastinfo.

“We are trying to support the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan through the tools at our disposal and we want the peace agreement to be signed as soon as possible,” he stated.

On June 11, Berset led a Council of Europe delegation to the Armenian Genocide Memorial. They laid a wreath at the monument, placed flowers by the eternal flame, and observed a minute of silence to honor the victims.

During his visit, Berset met with Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, who thanked him for coming to Armenia. Simonyan also raised the issues of Armenian prisoners, unlawfully detained persons, and the missing in Azerbaijan, stressing their importance.
