Pashinyan: Public fully supports peace path with Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Speaking during a briefing in the National Assembly, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the peace agenda, stating that Armenia is continuing consultations and negotiations with Azerbaijan regarding the timeline for signing a peace agreement.

Pashinyan emphasized that efforts are underway to create the necessary environment and conditions to make such an agreement feasible.

He also highlighted that he has been engaging more closely with citizens in recent weeks and can “unequivocally state that there is clear and unconditional support from Armenian citizens for the implementation of the peace agenda.”

“Yes, there are threats surrounding the Republic of Armenia. These threats have always existed. What’s new is that unprecedented opportunities have emerged around and for Armenia—opportunities we’ve never had before. Furthermore, one of the new developments is that, in my assessment, the Republic of Armenia now has greater capacity to manage threats and utilize opportunities,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that the chosen strategy requires a step-by-step and consistent approach.

On March 13, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that it had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on the two previously unresolved articles, stating that the peace agreement is ready to be signed. Armenia also expressed readiness to begin consultations regarding the timing and location of the signing. However, Baku introduced new preconditions and declared that it is still too early to discuss exact dates for a meeting.
