Erdogan, Pashinyan discuss regional peace and normalization efforts![]() June 21, 2025 - 10:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized the importance of the agreement reached in peace negotiations between Yerevan and Baku during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Istanbul, according to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency citing a statement from the Presidential Directorate of Communications. “During the meeting, President Erdogan highlighted the significance of the agreement reached in peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia under the current conditions. He stressed Turkey’s continued support for regional development efforts based on a mutually beneficial approach,” Anadolu reported, quoting an official statement. The two leaders discussed ongoing efforts to promote dialogue and stability in the South Caucasus, as well as recent regional developments, particularly Armenia-Turkey contacts. They also addressed possible steps to advance the normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations. Erdogan affirmed Turkey's readiness to use all diplomatic means to ensure stability not only in the Caucasus but across the region. According to a statement from the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office, the sides reviewed the normalization process and underscored the need for continued constructive dialogue and tangible results. They also discussed regional events and potential areas for bilateral cooperation in this context. Prime Minister Pashinyan reiterated Armenia’s commitment to peace and stability in the region and its policy of normalizing relations with neighboring countries. “The leaders of the two countries reaffirmed their readiness to maintain direct contacts and dialogue,” the statement said. Views were also exchanged on the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and the Armenian Government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative. Pashinyan mentioned the meeting in a post on social media platform X, stating that he and President Erdogan had an in-depth discussion. “We discussed the normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations, regional developments, and the importance of sustained dialogue. Armenia remains committed to building peace and stability in our region,” the post read. The Armenian delegation included Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Deputy Minister Vahan Kostanyan, and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan, who also serves as Armenia’s special representative in the normalization process with Turkey. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
