Iran keeps enriching uranium for peaceful purposes

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi stated that Tehran “continues to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes,” remaining committed to its obligations under the Nuclear Non‑Proliferation Treaty. He stressed that no country has the authority to limit Iran’s actions in this domain.

“We are a sincere participant in the Treaty. On that basis, we enrich uranium peacefully in the interest of our country. No one can tell us what to do as long as we uphold our treaty obligations,” he said on Germany’s ARD television, according to TASS.

Ravanchi declined to comment on Iran’s nuclear program status following the U.S. airstrikes on the night of June 22, but described the actions as “an obvious act of aggression.” The diplomat said that Tehran is “a victim of aggression” and has the right to respond under Article 51 of the U.N. Charter. At the same time, he did not elaborate on possible Iranian strikes against U.S. bases in the Middle East.

Additionally, the deputy foreign minister sharply criticized remarks by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who defended Israel’s actions against Iran, describing them as doing the West’s “dirty work.” Ravanchi urged Berlin to “stand with the victim, not the aggressor.”

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that satellite imagery indicates “massive damage” to all Iranian nuclear facilities, including those deeply buried. He emphasized that even heavily fortified structures were destroyed. He posted on Truth Social: “The visible white structure is deeply buried in rock, even its roof is well below the surface and fully blast‑protected. The greatest damage was inflicted on the underground section.”

In the early hours of June 22, U.S. President Donald Trump announced successful strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. He later stated the targets were completely destroyed and hailed the operation as a significant military success. Since June 13, Israel has conducted daily airstrikes on Iranian territory aimed at eliminating the Islamic Republic’s missile and nuclear capabilities.
