Armenian side positive toward upcoming Azerbaijan dialogue

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said that “Armenia could hold a new discussion with Azerbaijan in the near future,” according to Aysor.am. He recalled that the last dialogue between Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders took place in Tirana during the 6th European Political Community summit.

He added that “the Armenian side is positively inclined. Considering that we are ready to sign the peace treaty, we welcome such a meeting”.

On March 13, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced it had accepted Azerbaijani proposals on two outstanding articles and that the peace treaty was ready for signature. Armenia indicated willingness to begin consultations on the timing and venue of the signing. However, Baku introduced new preconditions and said it was premature to set deadlines.

The draft treaty includes 17 articles, of which 15 had been finalized. Unresolved points include mutual waiver of international claims and barring third-country security forces from the Armenia–Azerbaijan border.
