Yerevan and Ankara stress need to open transport links![]() June 26, 2025 - 16:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia and Turkey have recognised that opening regional communications is of considerable importance, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan told reporters. “It’s no secret that Turkey seeks to improve its links to Central Asia. For landlocked Armenia, open borders are literally a lifeline. Recent events showed that our 3.5 border with Turkey was closed in connection with developments around Iran,” he said, according to Aysor.am . He added that the “peace hub” concept was presented to Ankara, with both sides noting that Yerevan has taken a constructive stance regarding the opening of communications. On June 20, Prime Minister Pashinyan made a one-day working visit to Turkey. The agenda was not released in advance by mutual agreement, which the prime minister announced. He met with the local Armenian community in Istanbul. Asked if Turkey’s aim was to realise the idea of Greater Turan, he said there will be no “Zangezur corridor,” but there will be a “peace hub.” “We both want roads. Let’s open the borders. We label it ‘Turan’—and that’s it, go, wow… Let’s live, and give others the chance to live like us,” he said. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
