Samvel Karapetyan: Armenia no longer defends its sovereignty![]() June 27, 2025 - 18:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Detained businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, detained for two months, has issued the seventh part of his address from the Kentron penitentiary, sharing concerns about Armenia’s political course and regional developments. Karapetyan stated that Armenia has “been turned into a tool to bolster other nations’ sovereignty.” “They’ve made our small but amazing country a center of geopolitical conflict. Surrounded by hostile nations and demonstrating exceptional political incompetence, they rushed to sever ties with Russia. In doing so, they took the country in every direction, tried every tactic, just to irritate their main ally. They started shouting ‘European Union’ without realizing that no one was waiting for us there. They even considered turning Armenia into a vilayet, failing to see that even that is not being offered. In begging for peace, they’re forced into daily concessions disguised as negotiations but in reality harsher terms—because the other side wants to apply the same scenario as in Artsakh to Armenia: turning our homeland into a resettlement zone. This will result in 3 million more refugees scattered worldwide. Meanwhile, they send envoys to their main ally, begging and signaling readiness for any humiliation, trying to seem loyal. They play games without understanding that this ally values not posturing, but reliability, predictability, and honesty. Today, the main advantage of countries like ours can be the status of a reliable and honest partner defending its own interests. Lacking this has not strengthened but weakened our sovereignty. By shouting ‘sovereignty’ everywhere, we’ve become a tool to reinforce others’ sovereignty. Together, with our own strength, we will restore our sovereignty and reclaim our reputation as a trustworthy ally. We will fight,” the message concludes. On June 18, Samvel Karapetyan was arrested for two months and transferred to Armavir penitentiary for “making public calls to seize government authority.” ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
