EU prioritizes strong cooperation with Armenia, Kallas says![]() June 30, 2025 - 12:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - During a meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, emphasized the EU’s commitment to close cooperation with Armenia. “We value strong EU-Armenia cooperation and are interested in securing lasting peace in the region,” Kallas stated. President Khachaturyan welcomed the guest by noting: “Today, the Republic of Armenia is pursuing a path that can broadly be described as one of democracy. In this regard, our cooperation with the European Union is of great importance. I can say that our partnership has been successful, spanning all spheres of life—political, economic, societal, parliamentary, and at the local level. We also highly appreciate the EU’s support in helping Armenia confront foreign policy challenges.” The two sides discussed a wide array of topics relating to the multilayered cooperation between Armenia and the EU. President Khachaturyan outlined Armenia’s foreign policy priorities and fundamental positions, underscoring the country’s commitment to establishing peace in the region and building good-neighborly relations with all neighboring states. The meeting also highlighted key reforms underway in Armenia in recent years, particularly in the justice sector, anti-corruption efforts, and the development and consolidation of democratic institutions. The participants stressed the importance of international support in these areas. Both sides underlined the Armenian authorities’ consistent efforts to strengthen state and political institutions. They also exchanged views on enhancing collaboration in the energy sector, especially in renewable and green energy, emphasizing the importance of boosting EU-Armenia cooperation and developing new joint initiatives in this field. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
