Armenian MP elected OSCE PA democracy committee chair

PanARMENIAN.Net - During the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Sargis Khandanyan—Chair of the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and head of Armenia’s delegation to the OSCE PA—was elected Chair of the OSCE PA’s Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions, the Armenian parliament’s press office reported.

Assuming his new duties, Khandanyan said the committee’s mission has become more urgent than ever during these challenging times.

“The OSCE region is facing complex and layered challenges—ongoing conflicts, human rights violations, and democratic backsliding. In this context, the OSCE PA must continue to serve as a platform for dialogue and action based on multilateralism and effective parliamentary diplomacy,” he stated.

The Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions is one of the three main standing committees of the OSCE PA.
