Turkish bill proposes naming Armenia border gate to honor Talaat Pasha

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish opposition lawmakers propose renaming a border gate with Armenia in honor of Talaat Pasha, marking a provocative nationalist gesture.

According to RFE/RL, 28 deputies from Turkey’s opposition Good Party have submitted a bill in the Turkish parliament proposing the renaming of the Alican border crossing point with Armenia to Talaat Pasha Gate.

This was reported by the Turkish NTV channel, which quoted the party’s leader Musavat Dervishoglu.

"The fact that the Alican border gate will bear the name of Talaat Pasha is not a mere change of signage. It will be a powerful declaration of the Turkish national will, demonstrating that our people are ready to defend their history, heroes, and collective memory," said the nationalist leader.
