Fine set for blocking road after minor accidents

PanARMENIAN.Net - During an extraordinary session, the National Assembly adopted a legislative package in its second and final reading, mandating that in the event of minor traffic accidents, drivers must clear the road within 20 minutes. The law passed with 63 votes in favor, none against, and 25 abstentions.

The bill was authored by National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan and Civil Contract party MP Eduard Aghajanyan, reports Sputnik Armenia.

According to the new regulations, if two vehicles are involved in the accident, the drivers agree on who is at fault, and the cars are operable, they must move the vehicles to a legally permitted area within 20 minutes. This rule applies only if the cars have not sustained damage that makes further operation unsafe or illegal.

Failure to comply will result in an administrative fine of 30,000 drams.

The regulation applies to cases where the material damage caused by the accident does not exceed 400,000 drams. In such instances, drivers can submit a joint declaration via the "Auto Insurance One Window" (ASWA) application.

The 20-minute rule will remain in force until January 1, 2026. Once the system is improved, the limit may be reduced to 5–10 minutes.
