Another opposition MP stripped of immunity in secret vote

PanARMENIAN.Net - Arthur Sargsyan, a member of the opposition Armenia faction in the National Assembly, has been stripped of parliamentary immunity. The parliament approved the motion in a closed, secret ballot following a request by Armenia’s Prosecutor General to initiate criminal proceedings against Sargsyan.

According to Radar Armenia, 62 members of parliament voted in favor of the motion.

The Prosecutor General has also submitted a motion to detain Sargsyan.

Sargsyan is implicated in the Sacred Struggle case. Within this criminal case, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan and several of his associates have been arrested. They are accused of preparing acts of terrorism and attempting to seize power.
