The decision was made by the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Artak Karapetyan, following a motion approved by the court, reports Pastinfo. Sargsyan is accused of "preparing to commit acts of terrorism and to usurp state power" in connection with a criminal case involving Archbishop Bagrat and several others. On July 8, while the Armenian National Assembly was debating a motion by Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan to lift his parliamentary immunity, Sargsyan went to the Investigative Committee, anticipating his arrest. The motion to prosecute Sargsyan publicly is part of a broader investigation into the leaders and participants of the “Sacred Struggle” movement, suspected of plotting terrorism and a power grab. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
