Official: corridor claims are false, sovereignty non-negotiable

PanARMENIAN.Net - Taron Chakhoyan, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Armenia, stated that all claims suggesting a corridor through Syunik to Azerbaijan are false.

“All routes passing through Armenian territory will function under Armenia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction,” he wrote on Facebook.

Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan earlier stated that Armenia “has no objection to outsourcing management of the Syunik road if principles are respected.”

Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that Safaryan’s remarks were distorted by media and social media users.

“The Deputy Foreign Minister reaffirmed Armenia’s principled stance on unblocking regional transport links. In his speech, he emphasized key principles such as sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national jurisdiction, which all proposals and solutions must adhere to. He explicitly rejected any notion or language implying 'control' by a third party,” the ministry stated.
