Russian MP accuses Pashinyan of betraying national interests![]() August 7, 2025 - 18:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan values his personal well-being more than the country's future, said Alexei Zhuravlyov, First Deputy Chair of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee. According to him, Pashinyan has consistently acted in a way that serves his own interests. "The situation has long been clear: Pashinyan prioritizes his own comfort over Armenia's fate. It seems likely he will readily trade away Armenian national interests for a villa somewhere in Florida," Zhuravlyov told RIA Novosti. He added that former U.S. President Donald Trump is intent on brokering a peace deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "That’s why Pashinyan will be promised golden mountains, and there’s a strong chance he’ll accept," said the lawmaker. According to the Armenian government’s press office, Prime Minister Pashinyan is expected to hold a bilateral meeting in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as a trilateral meeting with Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. A senior White House official, speaking anonymously to the Washington Post, said the Trump meeting may include the announcement of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Reuters reports that, under a detailed section of the draft agreement, Armenia would grant the U.S. exclusive rights to develop a transit corridor for an extended period. The project will be called the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity," abbreviated as TRIPP. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
