Aram I urges Vatican to press for Artsakh leaders’ release

PanARMENIAN.Net - Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I has urged the Vatican to use all possible means to secure the release of Artsakh’s detained leaders in Baku.

Speaking with Cardinal George Cuvacat, Pope Leon XIV’s envoy, during the Astana summit, Aram I also stressed the vital importance of safeguarding Armenian churches and cultural monuments in line with international law.

He noted that as relations develop between the Vatican and Azerbaijan, attention must be paid to the treatment of Artsakh’s Armenians, their religious sites, and heritage, which, he said, contradict historical truth and current realities.
