MP says new NSS chief continues work on captives, missing

PanARMENIAN.Net - Andranik Kocharyan, head of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defense and Security, stated that current National Security Service (NSS) Director Andranik Simonyan is actively dealing with the issues of captives and missing persons.

Kocharyan stressed that former NSS chief Armen Abazyan, as head of the commission on captives and missing persons, regularly met with the Azerbaijani side. “The last two meetings have focused on captives and missing persons. Since Simonyan is now the head of the NSS, he will continue this work, as it has been approved by a government decision and the interagency commission is functioning,” he told Aysor.am .

Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan previously commented on Simonyan’s September 19–21 trip to Baku for an international forum, noting that the NSS itself would provide information on the visit if necessary.
