Former Оmbudsman announces political bid

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has announced a political bid, declaring his intention in a Facebook video address.

“My professional life has been devoted to human rights work, but under current conditions, that alone no longer yields results. I am launching a political initiative to use politics as a tool to unite people and move the country forward, for real peace,” Tatoyan said.

“This is not a bid to operate by old rules, but to change them, a call to take responsibility for our words, work for Armenia together, and prove that independent thinking, independent speech, and a capable team still exist,” he continued.

Tatoyan stated the need to restore the fractured political system, establish a state of law, and build a country of opportunity. He invited citizens to join his team “for the sake of families and the homeland.”

Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 2026.
