Hayk Babayan dismissed as police troops commander

PanARMENIAN.Net - Hayk Babayan has been relieved of his duties as Commander of the Police Troops and Deputy Chief of Police of Armenia, following a presidential decree.

The decision was made based on a proposal from the Prime Minister, in accordance with Article 133(1) of the Constitution, Article 13(4) of the Law on Police Service, and Article 40(1)(2) of the Law on Military Service and the Status of Servicemen.

According to Sputnik Armenia, Babayan is expected to be appointed Commander of the newly established Police Guard.

Babayan had held his former position since November 2020.

On October 24, 2024, Armenia’s National Assembly passed legislation to establish a Police Guard, set to be operational starting November 1, 2025.
