Armenia reaffirms gender equality commitment at UN

PanARMENIAN.Net - During a meeting with the President of the UN General Assembly, held within the framework of the UN Group of Friends on Gender Equality, Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, reaffirmed the country’s ongoing commitment to promoting gender equality in strategic documents and institutional culture.

It was noted that during the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Armenia, in cooperation with Estonia, France, Costa Rica, Chile, Japan, and Kenya, initiated a statement dedicated to digital technologies and the rights of women and girls.

The commitment includes concrete actions to integrate gender principles within emerging digital and artificial intelligence policy frameworks.

Meeting participants emphasized that gender equality should not be limited to statistics alone but must involve ensuring women’s voices are heard and that they are actively engaged in key areas such as peacebuilding, digital transformation, climate policy, and governance.
