Minister: U.S. partnership opens new horizons for Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - During a December 8 event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham), Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan highlighted the significance of the August 8 agreement signed in Washington, stating: “We are advancing the peace process with the world’s number one economy and number one country — the United States.”

He noted the implementation of major joint initiatives, including the TRIPP project, which he said opens “entirely new horizons and opportunities” in Armenian-American economic relations.

Papoyan also referred to the Crossroads of Peace initiative, describing it as an important direction for regional cooperation and stability.

The event also featured remarks by U.S. Ambassador Kristina Kvien, who outlined key strategic directions and priorities aimed at fostering Armenian-American economic collaboration and institutional development.

Among the participants were UNDP’s Resident Representative Natia Natsvlishvili, Central Bank of Armenia Chairman Martin Galstyan, Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Tsovinar Vardanyan, Deputy Economy Ministers Arman Khojoyan and Anushik Avetyan, Enterprise Armenia head Gohar Abajyan, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations.

On August 8, a trilateral meeting took place at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, resulting in a Joint Declaration reflecting the outcomes of the meeting.

In Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of their countries’ leaders and the U.S. President, pre-signed an agreement “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
