44-day war victims' relatives demand report release

PanARMENIAN.Net - Relatives of those killed or missing during the 44-day war are demanding the publication of the investigative committee’s report on the circumstances of the conflict. They have launched a petition outside the National Assembly building and intend to submit it to Speaker Alen Simonyan.

According to Aysor.am , Arsen Ghukasyan, a relative of a missing person, said the petition is being submitted on behalf of two civic groups, "Candle Light" and "Right to Truth." He stated: “This is a matter of public concern that deeply affects us. As a victim’s legal successor, I have the right to lawfully request to see who was responsible for the outcome of the war.”

Ghukasyan emphasized that the report was inexplicably archived, and officials are avoiding accountability.

“They have nothing to say. Тo put it bluntly, they don’t want to answer for anything. But I want answers from them, and so do the parents. All those who agree that the public deserves to see the report have joined us and can still join. This isn’t political, I’ve said many times: I don’t care if someone supports Nikol, Kocharyan, or Buddha, this is about the war, the dead, and the missing,” he said.

He added that they had met with the investigative committee in the past but were not given access to materials.

“They never gave us a clear answer. They staged fake hearings. Two people showed up, gave irrelevant speeches, and said the matter was closed. But even Nikol Pashinyan said that the commission’s materials should be made public. Let them do it, that’s all we ask,” Ghukasyan concluded.

According to the latest data, 195 people, including nearly two dozen civilians, are still considered missing as a result of the 44-day war.
