ISDA trademark protection extended to Armenia

ISDA trademark protection extended to Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to a November 13, 2025 decision by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the ISDA trademark is now legally protected in Armenia, the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) announced.

This extension ensures legal clarity and alignment with international standards, securing the authenticity of ISDA’s templates, definitions, guides, and educational materials while preventing unauthorized use in the Armenian market.

The CBA noted that this is especially important as Armenia’s domestic market increasingly adopts contracts based on international standards. The introduction of ISDA standards supports the development of derivatives, repo, and securities financing markets by reducing legal risks and strengthening market confidence.

“The trademark protection further reinforces this process, fostering a reliable environment for both local and international partners and promoting a global-standard risk management culture in Armenia,” the statement reads.

The protection of the ISDA trademark and adoption of ASDA standard agreements are considered major steps in modernizing Armenia’s financial market infrastructure, improving transparency, transaction predictability, and the country’s global competitiveness.
