Armenia builds region’s largest chocolate factory![]() January 21, 2026 - 10:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On January 20, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan visited the new chocolate and confectionery factory being built by Vellar Group, which is set to become the region’s largest chocolate production facility. As part of the project, approximately €120 million has already been invested, with an additional €25 million planned in the near future. Accompanied by the company’s management, the minister toured the site, reviewed the installed equipment, and familiarized himself with production capacities and technological lines. The factory spans around 25 hectares and is equipped with modern machinery, mainly imported from leading German and Danish manufacturers. Full operation is scheduled over the next three years, with daily production volumes expected to reach up to 200 tons and up to 2,000 new jobs created. The facility will produce a wide range of confectionery products, including chocolate and caramel candies, protein and fruit bars, chocolate-coated biscuits and wafers, as well as high-quality chocolate-covered Armenian dried fruits. Vellar Group has utilized state support tools, including customs duty exemptions and infrastructure investment incentives. Vellar Group is part of the GNG international business group, which is of Swedish origin. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision. Kerobyan has said that for the first time in the history of Armenia, the volume of foreign direct investments amounted to about $1 billion. Partner news |
