Lavrov: third 3+3 meeting for South Caucasus underway![]() January 30, 2026 - 12:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced that the third ministerial meeting within the “3+3” format, focused on South Caucasus regional issues, is currently in preparation. He made the statement in an interview with Turkish media. “There have already been two ministerial meetings; now the third is being prepared. Our Georgian neighbors continue to refrain from participating, but we always emphasize that the door remains open for them,” Lavrov said, as reported by Minval.az . He also highlighted Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s active support of the initiative. Lavrov noted the significance of the format, given that all participating states are neighbors in the South Caucasus, and that Turkey and Azerbaijan were among the main initiators of the 3+3 platform. Participants in the 3+3 format include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, and Iran. While Georgia is formally considered a participant, it has so far refused to join such meetings. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
