Armenia, Russia discuss joint emergency response center

PanARMENIAN.Net - On January 29, Aram Ghazaryan, Director of the Rescue Service at Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, met with a Russian delegation led by Vyacheslav Butko, Deputy Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation. Ghazaryan highlighted the role of the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center as a successful example of bilateral cooperation.

He noted that over the past decade, the center has consistently and efficiently fulfilled its mandate.

Ghazaryan stressed that in the face of global challenges, Armenian and Russian emergency services must adopt coordinated and complementary approaches to protect populations, prevent emergencies, and provide humanitarian assistance. He reaffirmed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs remains committed to further strengthening this partnership.

For his part, Vyacheslav Butko expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the importance of direct and open dialogue with Armenia’s Rescue Service. He underscored the central role of the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center as a proven and essential platform for joint emergency response.

Both sides highlighted the importance of continued cooperation, particularly in capacity building and knowledge exchange.

During the meeting, the center’s director, Alexey Butyrskiy, presented the key priorities for the current year.

At the end of the meeting, Ghazaryan and Butko visited the Memorial to the Devotees of Salvation and laid flowers in tribute.
