City Council to debate renaming street for football legend

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Yerevan City Council has included the proposed renaming of Hrazdan Gorge Street on the agenda of its sixth session, the first meeting of this term. According to Factor.am , the session will address 20 items, though only two are set to be formally presented.

One of the two items is a report on Yerevan’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan, while the second concerns the proposal to rename a street.

Specifically, Manuk Sukiasyan, head of the Mother Armenia faction, has proposed renaming Hrazdan Gorge Street, located in the city’s Kentron administrative district, after legendary Soviet-Armenian footballer, coach, Olympic champion, and head coach of the famed “Ararat-73” team, Nikita Simonyan. The suggested new name is “Nikita Simonyan Street, Yerevan.”
