Papikyan discusses defense ties in Iran![]() February 24, 2026 - 18:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, who is on an official visit to Iran, discussed Armenia-Iran cooperation in the defense sphere and a number of issues related to regional security with Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi. On February 24, he also met with Iran’s Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh. The ministers highly assessed the level of Armenia-Iran cooperation in the field of defense, expressed determination to continue efforts aimed at developing bilateral relations, and discussed a number of issues related to mutual cooperation. The sides also exchanged views on various matters concerning regional and international security. Suren Papikyan left for Iran on an official visit on February 23. On February 24, an official welcoming ceremony for the Armenian defense minister was held at Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, with the participation of a military band and honor guard. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
