Shant alliance rules out union with pro-Russian forces

PanARMENIAN.Net - Shahen Harutyunyan, chairman of the nationalist Shant alliance party, which months ago announced cooperation with the Wings of Unity initiative, has positively assessed collaboration with the Hayakve movement.

At the same time, he stressed that the Shant alliance will not cooperate with any force that has a clearly pro-Russian stance, Radar Armenia reported.

“Personally, as a representative of the alliance, I consider unification with any force that holds a pro-Russian position during the pre-election process to be out of the question.

As we have stated, with the aim of participating jointly in the elections scheduled for June 7, we — representatives of the Shant alliance, as well as Arman Tatoyan’s force — have consistently insisted on the need for unification, expansion and a more active struggle,” he said.

According to Harutyunyan, new forces have joined their joint format during this period, including various youth associations, specialists and other circles.

“This is yet another example of how the Armenian movement is naturally expanding and fitting into our logic,” he added.

Earlier, Arman Tatoyan, head of the Wings of Unity initiative, and Avetik Chalabyan, coordinator of the Hayakve association, signed a memorandum of cooperation and will participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections in a unified format.
