IRI poll: army, church most trusted institutions in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to a survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI), the Armed Forces of Armenia and the Armenian Apostolic Church remain the most respected institutions in the country.

Survey results show that citizens express the highest satisfaction with the work of the armed forces. Seventy-three percent of respondents said they are fully or partially satisfied with the army’s performance.

According to the survey, 61 percent of respondents said they are satisfied with the work of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Aysor.am reports.

At the same time, citizens most often express dissatisfaction with the work of the National Assembly: 68 percent of respondents said they are dissatisfied with its activities. A high level of dissatisfaction was also recorded toward the Office of the President, at 50 percent.

Within the survey, participants were also asked: “Which of the following countries do you consider the most important political partners for Armenia?” Respondents were allowed to choose several options.

According to the results, the top five partners named were Russia, the United States, Iran, the European Union, and France, 1lurer.am reports.

Respondents named Russia and the United States as the most important political partners, with nearly equal shares — Russia at 43 percent and the U.S. at 42 percent.

Iran was considered an important partner by 34 percent of respondents, the European Union by 29 percent, and France by 27 percent.

China was named by 21 percent of respondents, Georgia by 18 percent, India by 6 percent, the United Kingdom by 4 percent, and Kazakhstan and Turkey by 3 percent each.

Azerbaijan was named as an important political partner by 2 percent of respondents, the same percentage that chose Ukraine.

The “Other” option was selected by 2 percent, “None” by 3 percent, and 3 percent said they could not answer the question.
