PanARMENIAN.Net - Five inspectors from the State Revenue Committee’s Bavra customs department allegedly assaulted four people returning from Georgia during a dispute, Armenia’s Investigative Committee said.

According to the Investigative Committee, on January 15, 2024, five inspectors from the Bavra customs department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) argued with four individuals returning to Armenia from Georgia and used violence against them.

During the preliminary investigation, public criminal prosecution was initiated against the five customs inspectors.

The charges were brought under Article 441, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 4 of the Criminal Code, which concern abuse of authority or exceeding official powers by a public official, including misuse of influence related to their position.

As preventive measures, the suspects have been banned from leaving their place of residence and suspended from their official duties.

The criminal proceedings have been sent to the supervising prosecutor along with the indictment, requesting its approval and referral to court.
