EU official says efforts underway to ease visa process

PanARMENIAN.Net - Work is underway with European partners to make the visa application process smoother and more accessible for citizens, EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner said.

Brunner made the remarks during a joint press conference with Armenia’s Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan.

He noted that interest among Armenian citizens in traveling to European Union countries has increased, Armenpress reported.

According to him, the number of short-term visa applications submitted in 2024 increased by 10 percent compared with 2023.

“More than 100,000 applicants have registered, which shows the strong interest of Armenia’s citizens in traveling to the European Union. This is, of course, positive progress,” Brunner said.

He also stressed that due to the growing number of visa applications, consular departments of EU member states are working under considerable pressure to manage the queues.
