Armenia’s Security Council reviews regional situation![]() March 17, 2026 - 17:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A meeting of Armenia’s Security Council was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which participants discussed the current situation in the region and ongoing developments. In addition to members of the Security Council, the meeting was attended by President Vahagn Khachaturyan, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, and other officials. On February 28, Israel and the United States carried out airstrikes against Iran, during which Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and Persian Gulf countries hosting U.S. military bases. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
