EU welcomes Armenia-Turkey railway talks![]() April 29, 2026 - 12:43 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Union has welcomed the Armenia–Turkey meeting on the restoration of the Gyumri–Kars railway, held on April 28 in Kars. EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono, wrote on X that she “warmly welcomes the meeting of the Armenia–Turkey joint working group on the restoration and operation of the Gyumri–Kars railway.” She noted that the EU “fully supports this new important step toward developing regional connectivity and achieving full normalization of Armenian–Turkish relations,” according to Factor.am . As part of agreements reached within the Armenia–Turkey normalization process, the joint working group met in Kars on April 28 to discuss the restoration and launch of the Gyumri–Kars railway. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees. Friday night 8 trees were torched along the beautiful main entrance.
