Investigators report higher productivity in 2025![]() May 7, 2026 - 18:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of Armenia’s Investigative Committee Artur Poghosyan presented the agency’s 2025 activity report in parliament in accordance with Article 8 of the law on the Investigative Committee. Speaking about the rise in completed criminal proceedings, Poghosyan noted that the number of criminal cases under investigation increased by 5,590, or 6.5 percent, during the reporting period. In 2025, investigators handled 90,931 criminal proceedings compared with 85,341 in the previous year, reports 1lurer.am . The number of resolved proceedings increased by 6,483, or 10.2 percent. Of the 90,931 proceedings, progress was resolved in 69,694 cases, compared with 63,211 a year earlier. The number of criminal proceedings completed with procedural outcomes rose by 2,825, or 23.8 percent. Of 41,761 completed proceedings, 14,650 involving 15,533 individuals were sent to court with indictments. In the previous year, those figures stood at 11,825 proceedings involving 12,805 individuals. Investigators’ productivity reached 76.6 percent, up from 74.1 percent in 2024. Poghosyan also said that alongside the increase in criminal proceedings, the average workload per investigator rose to 142 criminal cases, compared with 132 in 2024. Addressing requests for pretrial detention, the Investigative Committee chairman said their number declined slightly. A total of 3,063 motions were submitted in 2025, compared with 3,095 the previous year. Of those requests, 2,181 were fully approved, 578 partially approved and 304 rejected. In 2025, 16,294 individuals held the status of accused persons, compared with 13,262 in 2024, marking an increase of 3,032 people, or 22.8 percent. Pretrial detention was applied to 18.7 percent of defendants, down from 23.3 percent in 2024, indicating a 4.6 percent decrease in the use of detention measures. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
