Draft proposes tax-funded support for NGOs, media![]() May 11, 2026 - 17:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A new draft law proposes creating mechanisms allowing allocations to non-governmental organizations and media outlets using income taxes paid by individuals, Aysor.am reported. According to the explanatory note attached to the proposal, the stable and continuous operation of non-commercial organizations and mass media plays an important role in developing an independent civil society and promoting free and impartial speech. “The problem is that no mechanisms currently exist for individuals to provide financial support to non-commercial organizations and mass media outlets. Adoption of the draft will not require additional financial resources. Although it may lead to an increase in state budget expenditures, it is not expected to cause any significant decline in revenues,” the justification states. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
