Police seize National Democratic Alliance campaign vehicle![]() May 20, 2026 - 18:39 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Police officers in the town of Vayk seized and transferred to a police station a campaign pickup truck belonging to the National Democratic Pole alliance, which had been carrying out voter outreach activities, according to Pastinfo. Alliance member Hermine Mkrtchyan said the vehicle had already been operating in Yerevan for three days without any issues, including in the presence of police officers. According to her, when the group headed toward Syunik Province, the vehicle was stopped in Vayk on the grounds that it had allegedly been modified and lacked a license. “At first they only wanted to draw up a report, but later the police group received a call, additional officers arrived and informed us that a decision had been made to transfer the vehicle to an impound lot. The vehicle was taken away, and up to this moment we still have no clear information,” Mkrtchyan said. In her assessment, the incident was an openly unlawful action aimed at obstructing the campaign activities of an opposition force. The election campaign that began on May 8 will continue until June 5. June 6 will be observed as a day of silence, and parliamentary elections will be held on June 7. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
