CIS observers briefed on election preparations![]() June 5, 2026 - 15:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A delegation led by Zhakip Asanov, head of the observer mission of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, visited Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission on June 5. The delegation was received by Vahagn Hovakimyan, chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), and CEC member Anna Grigoryan, the commission reported. During the meeting, the CEC chairman presented the progress of preparations for Armenia’s 2026 National Assembly elections and outlined the work carried out ahead of the vote. The election campaign, which began on May 8, continued through June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, while parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 7. On May 25, the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party submitted a withdrawal request, after which the Central Electoral Commission invalidated the registration of the party’s electoral list. As a result, there will be no ballot paper numbered 13 in the upcoming elections. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
