Armenia’s economic activity grows 7.9% in first half

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s economic activity indicator increased by 7.9% in January-June 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to data published by the Statistical Committee of Armenia.

In June, the economic activity indicator increased by 4.4% compared with May and by 7.7% compared with June 2025, Armenpress reports.

Construction continued to lead in terms of growth. In January-June this year, construction volume increased by 24.5% compared with the same period last year and was valued at 282 billion 220 million drams. In June, construction volume rose by 19.5% compared with May, reaching 74 billion 883.4 million drams. Compared with June 2025, growth stood at 25.4%.

The services sector, excluding trade, ranked second in terms of growth. In the first half of the year, services volume increased by 11% compared with the same period last year, reaching 2 trillion 148 billion 598.5 million drams. In June, services volume increased by 5.7% compared with May and by 19.7% compared with June 2025. The June figure stood at 414 billion 966.7 million drams.

Industrial output increased by 10.8% in January-June compared with the same months last year, reaching 1 trillion 522 billion 502.1 million drams. At the same time, production volume declined by 3.1% in June compared with May but exceeded the June 2025 figure by 4%. Industrial output worth 256 billion 702.6 million drams was produced in June.

Trade turnover increased by 0.9% in the first six months compared with the same period last year, reaching 3 trillion 155 billion 866 million drams. In June, trade volume increased by 6.3% compared with May, while declining by 0.1% compared with June last year. Trade turnover amounted to 585 billion 949.6 million drams in June.

Despite overall economic growth, gross agricultural output declined in the first half of the year. Compared with the same period last year, the decrease was 11.9%, while output was valued at 310 billion 50.5 million drams.

The consumer price index increased by 4.6% in January-June compared with the same months last year. In June, the indicator declined by 0.5% compared with May and increased by 5.1% compared with June 2025.

The industrial producer price index increased by 8.9% in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year. In June, it rose by 0.2% compared with May and by 8.8% compared with June 2025.

Armenia produced 4 billion 657.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in January-June, up 7.7% from the same period last year. In June, electricity generation increased by 1% compared with May and by 7.7% compared with June last year. Electricity generation totaled 663.5 million kilowatt-hours in June.

The figure did not include electricity generated by autonomous producers as part of electricity exchange flows. To ensure comparability, this electricity was also excluded from the corresponding indicators for previous periods when calculating growth rates: 579.8 million kilowatt-hours in May and 616.2 million kilowatt-hours in June.
