Putin, Aliyev review regional agenda

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held a telephone conversation on July 28, during which they discussed bilateral relations and the international agenda. The talks also covered intensified dialogue between the two governments, TASS reported.

"While discussing current bilateral and international issues, the leaders noted the constructive nature of Russian-Azerbaijani relations and the increased dialogue at the level of governments and sectoral agencies," the Kremlin press service said in a statement.

The two presidents also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing mutually beneficial cooperation.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the telephone conversation as warm and substantive, according to RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Pashinyan said restrictions on exports of Armenian-origin goods to the Russian market contradict the legal framework governing Armenia-Russia relations and the regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and asked Putin to take measures to resolve the issue.

Peskov also said Putin stressed the need to hold a referendum in Armenia on the Eurasian Economic Union as soon as possible.
